2019 Isle of Man Senior TT winner and IOMTT outright lap record holder (135.452 mph), Peter Hickman, piloted the Smith’s Racing BMW S1000RR to a checkered flag and new lap record at the Ulster with a blistering 136.415 mph average in Thursday’s SBK opener. Eclipsing rival Dean Harrison’s previous UGP record (134.614 mph) and securing his status as the fastest road racer in the world.

Wet conditions on Saturday quelled any hopes of an even faster lap time, but fans and race organizers were pleased to get in a full day of racing despite the sketchy weather. “Bringing the ‘World’s Fastest Road Race’ title back to Dundrod is great for the event, but getting everyone home safe means a lot more to me,” said UGP Clerk of the Course, Noel Johnston.

Hicky tallied a record seven victories on the week, including five-in-a-day, matching Irish road racing legend Phillip McCallen’s 5-win record set at the Ulster in 1996. “Hickman was without a doubt the ‘Man of the Meeting’ this year. He rode absolutely brilliantly, it was an amazing sight to watch. I’ve never seen someone win every race with a lead… he’s some talent. I’m privileged to call him my friend and so proud of what he’s done this year,” said American racer Patricia Fernandez.

It’s been a heck of a year thus far for Peter Hickman. Securing a win at his maiden North West 200 in April and a hat-trick at the Isle of Man (including the Senior TT race). He scored his first British Superbike podium of 2019 at Thruxton just last week, and now 7 wins at the Ulster. Hicky has a target on his back as he is definitely the man to beat. Catch him if you can.
